Jami at-Tirmidhi 3264 (Book 47, Hadith 316) #28913
The Prophet's Mercy and Protection

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was once attacked by eighty people while he was praying, but he managed to capture them and later let them go. Allah then revealed a verse in the Quran about this incident.

Narrated Anas: that eighty people swooped down from the mountain of At-Tan'im to kill the Messenger of Allah during Salat As-Subh, but he captured them and (later) let them go. So Allah revealed the Ayah: And it is He Who has withheld their hands from you and your hands from them (48:24).
