Prioritizing Family Before Religion

SUMMARY: The Prophet (s.a.w) would prioritize his family and household duties before attending to his religious obligations.

Aswad bin Yazid narrated: "I said to Aishah: 'What would the Prophet (s.a.w) do when he entered his house?' She said: 'He would busy himself with serving his family, then when (the time for) Salat was due he would stand (to go) for it'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Prioritize one's family and household duties before attending to their religious obligations .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith highlights the importance of prioritizing one's family and household duties before attending to their religious obligations. It is narrated by Aswad bin Yazid that he asked Aishah what the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) would do when he entered his house, to which she replied that he would busy himself with serving his family and then attend to prayer when it was due. This hadith teaches us that although religion is important, it should not be prioritized over our families and households as they are also a part of our responsibilities in life which must be fulfilled first before we can attend to other matters such as prayer or worshiping Allah SWT.
