The Protection of Kindness

SUMMARY: Being kind and friendly to people is a trait that will protect one from the Fire.

'Abdullah bin Mas'ud narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: "Shall I not inform you of whom the Fire is unlawful and he is unlawful for the Fire? Every person who is near (to people), amicable, and easy (to deal with)'."
حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الأَوْدِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ أَلاَ أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِمَنْ يَحْرُمُ عَلَى النَّارِ أَوْ بِمَنْ تَحْرُمُ عَلَيْهِ النَّارُ عَلَى كُلِّ قَرِيبٍ هَيِّنٍ لَيِّنٍ سَهْلٍ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ

This hadith speaks about the importance of being kind and friendly to people. It teaches us that if we are near, amicable, and easy to deal with, then Allah will protect us from the Fire. Being kind means being gentle, compassionate, understanding and considerate towards others. It also means having patience when dealing with difficult situations or people. Being amicable means being pleasant in our interactions with others; it involves having a good attitude towards them even if they have wronged us in some way. Lastly, being easy to deal with implies not making things more complicated than they need to be; it involves not getting angry or frustrated easily when faced with challenges or disagreements. All these traits are essential for living a life pleasing to Allah and protecting ourselves from His punishment in the hereafter.
