QUICK LESSONS:
Show respect for others when greeting them or shaking hands with them; do not remove your hand first nor turn away from someone until they have done so themselves; do not try to dominate conversations by leaning forward too much or appearing as if you are trying to put yourself in a higher position than those around you by advancing your knees before another person who is sitting down with you .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the exemplary politeness and respect that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) showed to those around him when greeting them or shaking hands with them. He would never remove his hand first, nor turn away from someone before they had done so themselves, and he was careful to not appear as if he were trying to dominate a conversation by leaning forward too much or putting himself in a higher position than those around him by advancing his knees before another person who was sitting down with him. These are all important values that we should strive to emulate in our own lives today; showing respect for others is an essential part of being a good Muslim and living according to Islamic teachings.
