Treating all people equally regardless of their physical abilities or disabilities; understanding the importance fairness in Islam; making exemptions for those with disabilities when it comes to certain obligations they may not be able to fulfill due to their condition .

This hadith speaks to the importance of equality among believers in Islam. It is narrated by Al-Bara' bin 'Azib that Prophet Muhammad said "Not equal are those of believers who sit". The Prophet was referring to those who were disabled or unable to stand due to physical limitations. He then asked for a shoulder blade or tablet so he could write down an exemption for them from certain obligations. Other narrators such as Ibn 'Abbas, Jabir and Zaid bin Thabit also reported this hadith which has been classified as Hasan Sahih by scholars. The hadith also mentions other narrators such as Sulaiman At-Taimi from Abu Ishaq and Shu'bah and Ath-Thawri reported this Hadith from Abu Ishaq too. This shows us that it is important in Islam that we treat all people equally regardless of their physical abilities or disabilities; however there should be exemptions made for those with disabilities when it comes to certain obligations they may not be able to fulfill due to their condition.
