Kindness and Generosity towards Neighbors

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (May peace be upon him) was advised by the angel Gabriel to be kind and generous to his neighbors.

'A’ishah reported the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) as saying: Gabriel kept on commending the neighbor to me so that I thought he would make him an heir.
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَمْرَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، رضى الله عنها أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ قَالَ ‏ "‏ مَا زَالَ جِبْرِيلُ يُوصِينِي بِالْجَارِ حَتَّى قُلْتُ لَيُوَرِّثَنَّهُ

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (May peace be upon him) was visited by the angel Gabriel, who kept on commending the importance of neighborliness. He stressed that being kind and generous to one's neighbors is a virtue that should not be overlooked. This hadith emphasizes the importance of muwālāt, or neighborly relations, which is an essential part of Islamic teachings. It encourages Muslims to show kindness and generosity towards their neighbors in order to build strong relationships with them. Furthermore, it teaches us that we should not forget our obligations towards our neighbors even if they are not related to us by blood or marriage; rather we should treat them as if they were family members. This hadith also serves as a reminder for us all that we must strive for jariyah, or good deeds, in order to gain Allah's pleasure and reward in this life and hereafter.
