Sunan Abi Dawud 4685 (Book 42, Hadith 90) #24976
Distributing Spoils with Fear of Hell

SUMMARY: The Prophet (May peace be upon him) distributed spoils among the people, and when Sad suggested to give something to a certain person because he was a believer, the Prophet (May peace be upon him) corrected him by saying that he should be given something because he is a Muslim. The Prophet (May peace be upon him) gave things to people even if they were not his closest friends, out of fear that they may fall into Hell.

Sa’d said : The Prophet (May peace be upon him) distributed (spoils) among the people I said to him : Give so and so for he is a believer. He said : Or he is a Muslim. I give a man something while another man is dearer to me than him, fearing that he may fall into Hell on his face.

QUICK LESSONS:
Give generously without expecting anything in return .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of distributing wealth and resources fairly and equally among all members of society. It also highlights the importance of being generous towards others even if they are not our closest friends or family members. The Prophet (May peace be upon him) was so generous in his distribution that he would give things away even if it meant giving more than what was deserved, out of fear that those who did not receive enough may fall into hell on their face. This hadith teaches us to always think about others before ourselves and strive for justice in our dealings with them. We should also remember that we will ultimately have to answer for our actions on judgement day, so it is important for us to always act with kindness and generosity towards others no matter how difficult it may seem at times.
