Sunan Abi Dawud 3669 (Book 27, Hadith 1) #23959
The Prohibition of Wine and Umar's Wish

SUMMARY: Wine is prohibited and it has a negative effect on the mind. Umar wished that the Prophet would have explained three things to them in more detail before leaving them.

’Umar said : The prohibition of wine came down when (the Quranic verse ) came down. It was made from five thing namely, grapes, dates, honey, wheat ,barley. Wine is what infects (khamara) the mind. There are three things I wished that the prophet would not leave us until he explained them fully to our satisfaction: (share of) grandfather, one who leaves no descendants or ascendants as hairs, and the details of usury.
