Sunan Abi Dawud 2191 (Book 13, Hadith 17) #22482
The Invalidity of Disobedient Oaths

SUMMARY: Oaths to do an act of disobedience to God are not valid, and oaths to sever relationships must not be fulfilled.

The above tradition has also been transmitted by 'Amr bin Shu’aib through a different chain of narrators to the same effect. This version adds "If anyone swears an oath to do an act of disobedience to GOD, his oath is not valid, and if anyone swears an oath to sever relationship, his oath is not valid(ie, he must not fulfill it)

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the invalidity of oaths that involve acts of disobedience towards God. It is narrated by 'Amr bin Shuaib, who was a companion and student of the Prophet Muhammad. According to this hadith, if someone swears an oath to do something that goes against God's will, then it is not valid and should not be fulfilled. Additionally, if someone swears an oath to sever a relationship with another person or group, then it should also not be fulfilled as it goes against the teachings in Islam which emphasize maintaining good relationships with others. This hadith teaches us that we should always strive for obedience towards God and maintain good relationships with others even when faced with difficult situations or disagreements.
