Measuring Foodstuff Before Selling

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) advised that foodstuff should not be sold before it has been measured or received.

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: The Prophet said, "The buyer of foodstuff should not sell it before it has been measured for him". Isma'il narrated instead, "He should not sell it before receiving it".

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to be mindful of our transactions when buying food. He advised that we should not sell the food before it has been measured or received. This is important because it ensures fairness in the transaction, as both parties know exactly how much they are getting for their money. It also prevents any potential disputes between buyer and seller, as there will be no confusion over what was agreed upon. This hadith teaches us to always ensure fairness in our dealings with others, and to always strive for justice in all aspects of life.
