EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith discusses the permissibility of drinking thickened grape juice known as At-Tila and the unlawfulness of all intoxicating substances. It was narrated by 'Abdul Malik bin Tufail Al Jazari that Umar bin Abdul Aziz wrote to them saying not to drink At Tila until two thirds have been consumed and one third remains. This means that it is permissible to drink this type of beverage as long as it does not contain any intoxicating substances or lead to intoxication. However, all forms of intoxication are strictly prohibited in Islam regardless if they come from alcohol or other sources such as drugs or narcotics.

The values taught in this hadith include moderation in consumption, abstaining from intoxicating substances, following Islamic law and adhering to religious guidance given by scholars such as Umar bin Abdul Aziz who was a prominent figure during his time period.
