Sunan an-Nasai 5726 (Book 51, Hadith 188) #20259
Dispute between Nuh and Shaitan over Grapevine

SUMMARY: Nuh and Shaitan had a dispute over the grapevine, and they agreed that Nuh would have one-third of it while Shaitan would have two-thirds.

It was narrated that Anas bin Sirin said: "I heard Anas bin Malik say: 'The Shaitan disputed with Nuh, peace be upon him, concerning the grapevine. One said: "This is for me," and the other said: "This is for me". Then they agreed that Nuh would have one-third and the Shaitan would have two-thirds'."

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith tells us about a dispute between Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him) and the devil (Shaitan). The dispute was about a grapevine; both of them wanted it for themselves. After some discussion, they agreed that Prophet Nuh should get one third of the grapevine while the devil should get two thirds. This teaches us that we should always try to find peaceful solutions to our disputes instead of fighting or arguing with each other. We can learn from this story that if we are patient and willing to compromise in difficult situations then Allah will help us find solutions which are beneficial for everyone involved.
