Drinking Milk on 'Arafat Day

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet (ﷺ) drinking milk while riding on a camel during the day of 'Arafat.

Narrated Um Al-Fadl bint Al-Harith: "While the people were with me on the day of 'Arafat they differed as to whether the Prophet was fasting or not; some said that he was fasting while others said that he was not fasting. So, I sent to him a bowl full of milk while he was riding over his camel and he drank it".

QUICK LESSONS:
Seek knowledge from reliable sources; Respect religious practices; Show compassion towards others; Respect differences in opinion.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the day of 'Arafat which is an important day in Islam. On this day, people gather to perform Hajj and Um Al-Fadl bint Al-Harith noticed that people were debating whether or not the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was fasting. To settle this debate, she sent him a bowl full of milk while he was riding his camel and he drank it. This shows us that even though fasting is important in Islam, it can be broken if there are certain circumstances such as when one needs to break their fast for medical reasons or when they are travelling. It also teaches us that we should always seek knowledge from reliable sources instead of relying on hearsay or speculation.
