Sunan an-Nasai 3581 (Book 28, Hadith 21) #18195
The Prophet's Commands

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) did not recite during Zuhr and 'Asr, but he commanded us to perform Wudu' properly, not to consume charity, and not to mate donkeys with horses.

It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin 'Ubaidullah bin 'Abbas said: I was with Ibn 'Abbas and a man asked him: "Did the Messenger of Allah recite during Zuhr and 'Asr?" He said: "No". He said: "Perhaps he used to recite to himself?" He said: "May your face be scratched! This question is worse than the first one. The Messenger of Allah was a slave whose Lord commanded him and he conveyed (the message). By Allah, the Messenger of Allah did not specify anything for us above the people, except for three things: He commanded us to perform Wudu' properly, not to consume charity, and not to mate donkeys with horses".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the commands of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. He was a slave whose Lord commanded him and he conveyed the message. He did not specify anything for us above the people except for three things; performing ablution properly, refraining from consuming charity, and avoiding mating donkeys with horses. These are important values that we should all strive to uphold in our daily lives as Muslims. We should take care in our ablutions so that we can be sure that we are fulfilling our religious obligations correctly. We should also avoid taking charity if it is given out of pity or sympathy as this goes against Islamic teachings on self-reliance and dignity. Finally, we must remember that animals have their own species which must be respected by avoiding interbreeding them unnecessarily or without purpose.
