Fulfilling Obligations of Hajj on Behalf of Others

SUMMARY: A woman asked the Prophet (ﷺ) if her father's obligation of Hajj can be fulfilled if she performs it on his behalf and the Prophet (ﷺ) replied in the affirmative.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: A woman from the tribe of Khath'am came in the year (of ,Hajjat-al-Wada' of the Prophet ) and said, "O Allah's Messenger ! My father has come under Allah's obligation of performing Hajj but he is a very old man and cannot sit properly on his Mount. Will the obligation be fulfilled if I perform Hajj on his behalf?" The Prophet replied in the affirmative.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ـ رضى الله عنهم ـ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً، ح‏.‏

This hadith is about a woman from the tribe of Khath'am who asked the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ if her father's obligation to perform Hajj can be fulfilled by her performing it on his behalf. The Prophet ﷺ replied in the affirmative, indicating that fulfilling obligations such as Hajj on behalf of others is permissible. This hadith teaches us that we should help those who are unable to fulfill their obligations due to age or any other reason, and that we should not hesitate to do so. It also teaches us about being generous and kind towards others, especially those who are unable to fulfill their religious duties due to any reason. Furthermore, this hadith also encourages us to take responsibility for our own actions and deeds as well as for those around us.
