Sahih al-Bukhari 1852 (Book 28, Hadith 32) #1775
Paying Allah's Debt

SUMMARY: A woman asked the Prophet if she could perform Hajj on behalf of her deceased mother, to which he replied that she should pay Allah's debt as He has more right to be paid.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: A woman from the tribe of Juhaina came to the Prophet and said, "My mother had vowed to perform Hajj but she died before performing it. May I perform Hajj on my mother's behalf?" The Prophet replied, "Perform Hajj on her behalf. Had there been a debt on your mother, would you have paid it or not? So, pay Allah's debt as He has more right to be paid".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a woman from the tribe of Juhaina who came to the Prophet and asked if she could perform Hajj on behalf of her deceased mother. The Prophet replied that she should pay Allah's debt as He has more right to be paid. This hadith teaches us that we must fulfill our obligations and promises even after death, and it also shows us how important it is for us to pay back any debts we owe. We must remember that Allah has more right than anyone else when it comes to being repaid for what we owe Him, so we must make sure not only do we repay our debts but also fulfill any promises or vows made in His name.
