Death While In Ihram

SUMMARY: A man died while in a state of Ihram and the Prophet (ﷺ) instructed to wash him with water and Sidr, shroud him in two garments, and not to perfume or cover his head as he will be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection reciting Talbiya.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: A man was in the company of the Prophet and his she-camel crushed his neck while he was in a state of Ihram and he died Allah's Messenger said, "Wash him with water and Sidr and shroud him in his two garments; neither perfume him nor cover his head, for he will be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection, reciting Talbiya".
حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بِشْرٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ أَنَّ رَجُلاً، كَانَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ فَوَقَصَتْهُ نَاقَتُهُ، وَهُوَ مُحْرِمٌ، فَمَاتَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ اغْسِلُوهُ بِمَاءٍ وَسِدْرٍ، وَكَفِّنُوهُ فِي ثَوْبَيْهِ، وَلاَ تَمَسُّوهُ بِطِيبٍ، وَلاَ تُخَمِّرُوا رَأْسَهُ، فَإِنَّهُ يُبْعَثُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مُلَبِّيًا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a man who was in the company of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ when his she-camel crushed his neck. The Prophet ﷺ instructed that he should be washed with water and sidr, shrouded in two garments without being perfumed or having his head covered. He will be resurrected on the Day of Resurrection reciting Talbiya. This hadith teaches us that death can come at any time so we must always be prepared for it by living our lives according to Islamic teachings. It also teaches us that we should treat those who have passed away with respect by washing them properly and shrouding them appropriately before burial. Furthermore, it reminds us that all our actions are recorded by Allah SWT so we must strive to do good deeds throughout our lives so that we can receive His mercy on the Day of Judgment.
