The Reward of Performing Hajj with Children

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) encouraged a woman to perform Hajj with her child and promised her reward for doing so.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that: the Messenger of Allah passed by a woman when she was in her seclusion and had a child with her. She said: "Is there Hajj for this one?'' He said: "Yes, and you will be rewarded'.'(sahih)
أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ بْنِ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ابْنُ أَخِي، رِشْدِينَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ وَالْحَارِثُ بْنُ مِسْكِينٍ قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُ، عَنِ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ، عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَرَّ بِامْرَأَةٍ وَهِيَ فِي خِدْرِهَا مَعَهَا صَبِيٌّ فَقَالَتْ أَلِهَذَا حَجٌّ قَالَ ‏ "‏ نَعَمْ وَلَكِ أَجْرٌ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of performing the pilgrimage of Hajj with children. It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that the Messenger of Allah passed by a woman who was in seclusion and had a child with her. She asked if there is any reward for performing Hajj with this child and the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) replied positively saying that she will be rewarded for it. This hadith teaches us that we should take our children along when we go on pilgrimage as it is an act which will be rewarded by Allah Almighty. It also encourages us to take our children along on other religious activities such as attending mosques or going on Umrah trips so they can learn more about their faith from an early age and become better Muslims in future.
