The Reward of Performing Hajj on Behalf of Children

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) met some Muslims and a woman asked if her child was eligible for Hajj. He replied that it was and she would be rewarded for it.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: "The Messenger of Allah set out and when he was in Ar-Rawha he met some people and said: 'Who are you?' They said: 'Muslims'. They said: 'Who are you?' They said: 'The Messenger of Allah'. A woman brought a child out of the litter and said: 'Is there Hajj for this one?' He said" "Yes, and you will be rewarded'.''(Shih)
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عُقْبَةَ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ مِسْكِينٍ، قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُ، - وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ - عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ، عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ صَدَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ فَلَمَّا كَانَ بِالرَّوْحَاءِ لَقِيَ قَوْمًا فَقَالَ ‏"‏ مَنْ أَنْتُمْ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالُوا الْمُسْلِمُونَ ‏.‏ قَالُوا مَنْ أَنْتُمْ قَالُوا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏.‏ قَالَ فَأَخْرَجَتِ امْرَأَةٌ صَبِيًّا مِنَ الْمِحَفَّةِ فَقَالَتْ أَلِهَذَا حَجٌّ قَالَ ‏"‏ نَعَمْ وَلَكِ أَجْرٌ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the reward of performing Hajj on behalf of children. It was narrated by Ibn 'Abbas that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) met some Muslims while he was in Ar-Rawha and a woman brought out a child from her litter and asked if there is any reward for performing Hajj on behalf of this child. The Prophet replied that there is indeed reward for doing so and she will be rewarded for it. This hadith teaches us to perform religious duties such as Hajj on behalf of our children as we will be rewarded for it in return. It also encourages us to take our children along with us when we go out so they can learn more about their religion from an early age. Furthermore, this hadith shows us the importance of teaching our children about their faith at an early age so they can grow up to become good Muslims who are knowledgeable about their religion and practice its teachings in their daily lives.
