Asking Allah for Mercy and Bounty in the Mosque

SUMMARY: When entering and leaving a mosque, one should ask Allah for mercy and bounty.

It was narrated that 'Abdul-Malik bin Sa'eed said: "I heard Abu Humaid and Abu Usaid say: 'The Messenger of Allah said: "When any one of you enters the Masjid, let him say: 'Allahumma aftahli abwaba rahmatik (O Allah, open to me the gates of your mercy). And when he leaves let him say: Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik (O Allah, I ask You of Your bounty)'."
أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ الْغَيْلاَنِيُّ، - بَصْرِيٌّ - قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا حُمَيْدٍ، وَأَبَا، أُسَيْدٍ يَقُولاَنِ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ إِذَا دَخَلَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَسْجِدَ فَلْيَقُلِ اللَّهُمَّ افْتَحْ لِي أَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ وَإِذَا خَرَجَ فَلْيَقُلِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith encourages Muslims to remember Allah when entering and leaving a mosque. When entering, one should say “Allahumma aftahli abwaba rahmatik” which translates to “O Allah, open to me the gates of your mercy”. When leaving, one should say “Allahumma inni as'aluka min fadlik” which translates to “O Allah, I ask You of Your bounty”. This hadith teaches us that we must always remember God in our daily lives and seek His mercy and blessings wherever we go. It also reminds us that even when we are in a place of worship such as a mosque, it is important to remember God's presence with us at all times. By doing so, we can ensure that our prayers are answered more quickly by Him.
