Cleanliness is Next to Godliness

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was angered by the presence of sputum in the Qiblah of the Masjid, and a woman from the Ansar scratched it off and put some perfume in its place, to which he praised her.

It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: "The Messenger of Allah saw some sputum in the Qiblah of the Masjid, and he became so angry that his face turned red. Then a woman from the Ansar went and scratched off, and put some perfume in its place. The Messenger of Allah said: 'How good this is'."
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَائِذُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ الطَّوِيلُ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ رَأَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ نُخَامَةً فِي قِبْلَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَغَضِبَ حَتَّى احْمَرَّ وَجْهُهُ فَقَامَتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ فَحَكَّتْهَا وَجَعَلَتْ مَكَانَهَا خَلُوقًا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ مَا أَحْسَنَ هَذَا

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith highlights the importance of cleanliness and hygiene in Islam. It is narrated that Prophet Muhammad saw some sputum on the Qiblah wall of a mosque, which made him so angry that his face turned red. A woman from Ansar then took it upon herself to scratch off this sputum and replace it with perfume instead. The Prophet praised her for her good deed, showing us how important cleanliness is in Islam. We should always strive to keep our surroundings clean as this pleases Allah SWT and brings us closer to Him.
