Sunan an-Nasai 213 (Book 1, Hadith 214) #14820
Delaying Prayers During Istihadah

SUMMARY: A woman suffering from Istihadah was advised to delay Zuhr and bring 'Asr forward, and to perform one Ghusl for both, and to delay Maghrib and bring 'Isha' forward, and to perform one Ghusl for both, and to perform one Ghusl for Subh.

It was narrated from 'Aishah that a woman who suffered from Istihadah during the time of the Messenger of Allah was told that it was a stubborn vein (ie, one that would not stop bleeding). She was told to delay Zuhr and bring 'Asr forward, and to perform one Ghusl for both, and to delay Maghrib and bring 'Isha' forward, and to perform one Ghusl for both, and to perform one Ghusl for Subh.

QUICK LESSONS:
Be mindful of your health conditions when praying; Combine two prayers together if necessary; Take a ghusl or bath before each prayer; Fulfill your religious obligations despite physical limitations .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a woman who suffered from a condition called Istihadah. The Prophet Muhammad advised her that she should delay her Zuhr prayer until the time of Asr prayer comes closer, then she should combine them into one prayer with only one ghusl or bath required before it. Similarly he advised her that she should delay her Maghrib prayer until the time of Isha'a comes closer then combine them into one prayer with only one ghusl or bath required before it. He also told her that she must take a ghusl or bath before performing the Fajr prayer in the morning as well. This hadith teaches us that we must be mindful of our health conditions when performing our prayers so as not to put too much strain on ourselves while still fulfilling our religious obligations. It also teaches us about being considerate towards others who may have certain health conditions which prevent them from performing their prayers in the same way as everyone else does.
