Praying During Non-Menstrual Bleeding

SUMMARY: The hadith is about a woman who suffers from non-menstrual vaginal bleeding and the Prophet (PBUH) instructs her to continue praying, but to stop when her period comes and wash the blood off before resuming prayer.

It was narrated that 'Aishah said: Fatimah bint Abi Hubaish came to the Messenger of Allah and said: "I am a woman who suffers from Istihadah (non-menstrual vaginal bleeding) and I never become pure. Should I stop praying?" He said: "No, that is a vein, it is not menstruation. When you period comes, stop praying, and when it goes, wash the blood from yourself and pray".

This hadith is about a woman who came to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ asking if she should stop praying due to her non-menstrual vaginal bleeding. The Prophet ﷺ instructed her that this was not menstruation, but rather a vein, and so she should continue praying until her period comes. When it does come, she should then stop praying until it goes away and wash any blood off of herself before resuming prayer. This hadith teaches us that we must be mindful of our religious obligations even when we are facing physical difficulties or illnesses. It also teaches us that we must take care of our bodies by washing ourselves after any kind of bleeding or discharge in order for us to be able to pray properly.
