Sunan an-Nasai 168 (Book 1, Hadith 169) #14775
Prostration During Prayer

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) practice of prostrating during prayer and how his wife, Aishah, would adjust her feet accordingly.

It was narrated that 'Aishah said: "I used to sleep in front of the Messenger of Allah and my feet were in the direction of his Qiblah. When he prostrated he nudged me and I drew up my feet, then when he stood up I stretched them out again. And there were no lamps in the houses at the time".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the importance of prayer in Islam and how it should be done with respect and reverence. It was narrated by Aishah that she used to sleep in front of the Prophet Muhammad while he prayed. When he prostrated himself during prayer, he would nudge her so that she could draw up her feet as a sign of respect for him and for Allah. At this time there were no lamps in houses so it was dark when they prayed. This hadith teaches us that we should always show respect for Allah by praying with humility and reverence even if we are not able to see what we are doing due to darkness or any other reason. We should also show respect for those who pray around us by being mindful of our actions while they are praying.
