The Importance of Purification in Prayer and Charity

SUMMARY: Allah does not accept prayer or charity from stolen goods.

It was narrated from Abu Al-Malih, that his father said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Allah does not accept Salah without purification, nor charity from Ghulul'." 1 1 That which is taken from the spoils of war prior to their distribution.
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمَلِيحِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ لاَ يَقْبَلُ اللَّهُ صَلاَةً بِغَيْرِ طُهُورٍ وَلاَ صَدَقَةً مِنْ غُلُولٍ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of purifying oneself before prayer and giving charity. It was narrated by Abu Al-Malih, whose father said that the Prophet Muhammad said that Allah does not accept salat without purification nor charity from ghulul. Ghulul refers to spoils taken from war prior to their distribution. This hadith teaches us that it is important to be pure in our intentions when we pray and give charity, as Allah will not accept these acts if they are done with ill intentions or with stolen goods.
