Sunan an-Nasai 137 (Book 1, Hadith 138) #14744
Praying with Distractions

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ led the people in prayer while donkeys, dogs and women were passing in front of him.

It was narrated from 'Awn bin Abi Juhaifah that his father said: "I saw the Prophet in Al-Batha'. Bilal brought out the water left over from his Wudu' and the people rushed toward it and I got some of it. Then a short spear was planted in the ground and he led the people in prayer, while donkeys, dogs and women were passing in front of him".

TOPICS
prayer  *  distractions  *  obligation

QUICK LESSONS:
Pray five times a day without getting distracted by external factors like donkeys or dogs passing by.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet's demonstration of how to pray despite distractions. It was narrated from 'Awn bin Abi Juhaifah that his father said he saw the Prophet leading a prayer while donkeys, dogs and women were passing in front of him. This shows us that even when there are distractions around us, we should still be able to focus on our prayers and not be distracted by them. We should also remember that it is an obligation for us to pray five times a day as Muslims, so we must make sure we do not miss any prayers due to distractions or anything else.

The Prophet's example also teaches us patience and perseverance; even though there were many distractions around him, he still managed to lead the people in prayer without being distracted by them. He showed us that if we want something badly enough, then nothing can stop us from achieving it - no matter how many obstacles come our way!
