Sahih al-Bukhari 1479 (Book 24, Hadith 80) #1419
True Poverty and Asking for Charity

SUMMARY: The hadith explains that true poverty is not just about having little money, but also about not being known to others and not asking for charity.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger said, "The poor person is not the one who goes round the people and ask them for a mouthful or two (of meals) or a date or two but the poor is that who has not enough (money) to satisfy his needs and whose condition is not known to others, that others may give him something in charity, and who does not beg of people".

QUICK LESSONS:
Helping those in need without expecting anything back; Being generous with one's wealth when able; Being aware of other's conditions so as to give them something out of charity if possible.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains the concept of true poverty. It states that a person who is truly poor does not go around asking people for food or money, but rather has needs that are unknown to others. This means that they do not beg from people in order to satisfy their needs. Instead, it is up to those who are aware of the person's condition to give them something in charity if they can afford it. The hadith teaches us the importance of helping those in need without expecting anything in return and encourages us to be generous with our wealth when we can afford it.
