Sahih al-Bukhari 1370 (Book 23, Hadith 122) #1314
Reminding of God's Promise

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) asked a rhetorical question to the dead people of the well, reminding them of God's promise.

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: The Prophet looked at the people of the well (the well in which the bodies of the pagans killed in the Battle of Badr were thrown) and said, "Have you found true what your Lord promised you?" Somebody said to him, "You are addressing dead people". He replied, "You do not hear better than they but they cannot reply".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ asking a rhetorical question to the dead people in a well. He was reminding them of what their Lord had promised them. This hadith teaches us that even though we cannot hear from those who have passed away, they can still hear us and are aware of what is happening around them. It also reminds us that Allah always keeps His promises and will never forget His promises no matter how long it takes for Him to fulfill it. We should always remember this when we are feeling down or discouraged because Allah will never forget His promise to us either.
