Sahih al-Bukhari 1369 (Book 23, Hadith 121) #1313
Testifying Faith in the Grave

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that when a faithful believer is made to sit in his grave, they will testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and Muhammad is Allah's Apostle.

Narrated Al-Bara' bin 'Azib : The Prophet (pbuh) said, "When a faithful believer is made to sit in his grave, then (the angels) come to him and he testifies that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and Muhammad is Allah's Apostle. And that corresponds to Allah's statement: Allah will keep firm those who believe with the word that stands firm . . . (14:27). Narrated Shu'ba: Same as above and added, "Allah will keep firm those who believe . . . (14:27) was revealed concerning the punishment of the grave".

QUICK LESSONS:
Have strong faith even after death so we can receive blessings from God; Believe that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah; Believe Prophet Muhammad was sent by Him; Understand importance of having strong faith even after death; Say Shahadah or testify our belief by saying there is no one worthy of worship except for God and Prophet Muhammad being His messenger .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains an important concept of faith for Muslims. It states that when a faithful believer dies, they will be made to sit in their grave and then angels will come to them. The angels will ask them if they believe that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and Muhammad is Allah's Apostle. This corresponds with a verse from the Quran which states "Allah will keep firm those who believe with the word that stands firm". The punishment of grave is also mentioned here as it relates to this verse from Quran.
