Sahih Muslim 2220b (Book 39, Hadith 141) #12879
Rejecting Superstition

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the lack of superstition and how it should not be believed in.

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger as saying: There is no transitive disease, no evil omen, no safar, no hama. A desert Arab said: Allah's, Messenger. The rest of the hadith is the same.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about rejecting superstitions such as believing in evil omens, transitive diseases, safar and hama. These are all things that people used to believe in before the advent of Islam. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was teaching his followers to reject these beliefs and instead put their faith in Allah alone. He was teaching them that these things have no power over them or their lives, and that they should not be afraid of them or give them any importance. Instead, they should focus on doing good deeds and trusting Allah for all outcomes.
