Sahih Muslim 2220a (Book 39, Hadith 140) #12878
The Power of Allah

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that there is no supernatural or hidden means of transmitting harm, and that Allah is ultimately in control.

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger as saying: There is no infection, no safar, no hama. A desert Arab said: Allah's Messenger, how is it that when the camel is in the sand it is like a deer-then a camel afflicted with scab mixes with it and it is affected by sub? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Who infected the first one? Note: The majority of scholars interpret this to mean that these things in and of themselves do not transmit or cause harm through supernatural or hidden means but that Allah is ultimately in control and any fearful superstition around these is false.

QUICK LESSONS:
Trusting in God's will and power; avoiding superstitions; understanding that only God has ultimate control over our lives; being mindful of our actions and their consequences .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains the power of Allah and how He is ultimately in control. It tells us that there are no hidden or supernatural means by which harm can be transmitted from one person to another, such as through infection, travel, or hama. A desert Arab asked how it was possible for a camel to become infected with scab if it was already healthy when it mixed with an infected camel. The Prophet replied by asking who infected the first one? This teaches us that we should not be superstitious about these things because only Allah has the power to cause harm and He does so according to His will.
