Prohibited Containers for Nabidh Preparation

SUMMARY: Allah's Messenger forbade the preparation of Nabidh in certain containers.

Abu Sa'id Khudri reported that Allah's Messenger forbade (the preparation) of Nabidh in gourd, in pitcher besmeared with green pitch, in hollow stump and in varnished jar.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ، أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ نَهَى عَنِ الدُّبَّاءِ وَالْحَنْتَمِ وَالنَّقِيرِ وَالْمُزَفَّتِ

This hadith is about the prohibition of preparing a type of drink called 'Nabidh' in certain containers. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ forbade the preparation of this drink in gourds, pitchers besmeared with green pitch, hollow stumps and varnished jars.
