QUICK LESSONS:
Respect others when entering into any kind of relationship or contract with another person
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the prohibition of Shighar, which is an exchange of marriage partners between two families. This practice was common among pre-Islamic Arabs and was prohibited by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ taught that it was not permissible to exchange marriage partners in Islam, as it would lead to a lack of respect for women and could cause confusion regarding lineage and inheritance rights. He also taught that all marriages should be based on mutual consent and respect for both parties involved. This hadith serves as a reminder that we should always strive to uphold the values of justice, fairness, and respect when entering into any kind of relationship or contract with another person.
