Eating and Drinking Until Adhan

SUMMARY: Bilal announces Adhan during the night, and people should eat and drink until they hear the Adhan of Ibn Umm Maktum.

Abdullah b. 'Umar (Allah be pleased with both of them) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah as saying: Bilal announces Adhan during the night, so you eat and drink, till you hear the Adhan of Ibn Umm Maktum.

QUICK LESSONS:
Eat and drink till you hear the Adhaan of Ibn Umm Maktoom

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about eating and drinking until a certain point in time. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ instructed that Bilal would announce the call to prayer, known as adhan, during the night. People were then allowed to eat and drink until they heard another call to prayer from Ibn Umm Maktum. This means that people should not stay up late eating or drinking after hearing Bilal's adhan but instead should finish their meals before hearing Ibn Umm Maktum's adhan so that they can be ready for prayer on time. This hadith teaches us about being mindful of our time management so that we can fulfill our religious obligations properly without delay or negligence.
