Sahih Muslim 1084a (Book 13, Hadith 27) #9666
Explaining the Concept of a Month

SUMMARY: The Prophet (PBUH) separated himself from his wives for a month and on the 29th day, he explained the concept of a month by flapping his hands thrice and holding back one finger at the last turn.

Jabir (Allah be pleased with her) narrated that the Prophet separated himself from his wives for a month. (His wives said: ) He came to us on the twenty-ninth day, whereupon we said: It is the twenty-ninth (day) today. Thereupon he said: So far as the month is concerned, (and he, with a view to explaining it) flapped his hands thrice, but held back one finger at the last turn.

Be mindful of your actions, Be aware of time passing

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Jabir ibn Abdullah al-Ansari talks about how Prophet Muhammad PBUH separated himself from his wives for a month. On the 29th day, when asked about it, he explained to them what constitutes a month by flapping his hands thrice and holding back one finger at the last turn. This hadith teaches us that we should be mindful of our actions and be aware of time passing as it is an important part of our lives. It also teaches us to be patient in difficult times as Allah SWT will always provide us with solutions if we are patient enough to wait for them.
