Sahih Muslim 1065b (Book 12, Hadith 195) #9594
Separating from the Ummah

SUMMARY: A group of people will separate themselves from the Muslim community when there is disagreement among them, and the group that is closer to the truth will kill them.

Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported that the Messenger of Allah said: A group would secede itself (from the Ummah) when there would be dissension among the Muslims. Out of the two groups who would be nearer the truth would kill them.

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive for unity within our communities , Seek out what is closest to the truth in any given situation , Act accordingly .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about a situation in which a group of people separates itself from the Muslim community due to disagreements among them. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ warns that this separation should not be done, as it can lead to further conflict and violence. He also states that if such a situation arises, then it is up to those who are closer to the truth to decide what should be done with those who have separated themselves. In this case, they may choose to kill them if necessary. This hadith teaches us that we should strive for unity within our communities and avoid any kind of division or dissension at all costs. We must also remember that we must always seek out what is closest to the truth in any given situation and act accordingly.
