The Power of Five Daily Prayers

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) compared the five daily prayers to an overflowing river, which washes away all filthiness.

Jabir b. 'Abdullah reported that the Messenger of Allah said: The similitude of five prayers is like an overflowing river passing by the gate of one of you in which he washes five times daily Hasan said: No filthiness can remain on him.
وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، - وَهُوَ ابْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ - قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ مَثَلُ الصَّلَوَاتِ الْخَمْسِ كَمَثَلِ نَهَرٍ جَارٍ غَمْرٍ عَلَى بَابِ أَحَدِكُمْ يَغْتَسِلُ مِنْهُ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ خَمْسَ مَرَّاتٍ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ قَالَ الْحَسَنُ وَمَا يُبْقِي ذَلِكَ مِنَ الدَّرَنِ
