Prostration of Seven Bones

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad was commanded to prostrate himself on seven bones and was forbidden to fold back clothing and hair.

Ibn Abbas reported that the Messenger of Allah said: I have been commanded to prostrate myself on seven bones:" forehead," and then pointed with his hand towards his nose, hands, feet, and the extremities of the feet; and we were forbidden to fold back clothing and hair.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ طَاوُسٍ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ‏ "‏ أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَسْجُدَ عَلَى سَبْعَةِ أَعْظُمٍ الْجَبْهَةِ - وَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ عَلَى أَنْفِهِ - وَالْيَدَيْنِ وَالرِّجْلَيْنِ وَأَطْرَافِ الْقَدَمَيْنِ وَلاَ نَكْفِتَ الثِّيَابَ وَلاَ الشَّعْرَ

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad was commanded by Allah to perform prostration in a specific way. He had to prostrate himself on seven bones which included his forehead and the extremities of his feet. Additionally, he was forbidden from folding back any clothing or hair while performing prostration. This hadith teaches us that we should be mindful of our actions when performing salat as it is an act of worship towards Allah. We should ensure that we are following the instructions given by the Prophet Muhammad so that our salat is accepted by Allah. Furthermore, this hadith also teaches us about modesty as we should not expose any part of our body while praying salat or even in general life situations.
