Utilizing Resources

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) noticed a dead goat and suggested that its skin should be used for something.

Ibn 'Abbas reported: The Apostle of Allah happened to pass by (the dead body) of the goat which belonged to the freed slave-girl of Maimuna and said: Why did you not make use of its skin?
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ مَرَّ بِشَاةٍ لِمَوْلاَةٍ لِمَيْمُونَةَ فَقَالَ ‏ "‏ أَلاَّ انْتَفَعْتُمْ بِإِهَابِهَا

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was walking by when he noticed a dead goat. He asked why the skin of the animal was not being used for something, suggesting that resources should not be wasted. This hadith teaches us to be resourceful and to make use of all available resources in order to avoid wastage. It also encourages us to think outside the box and come up with creative solutions in order to make use of what we have instead of discarding it or letting it go unused. We can learn from this hadith that even small things can have great value if we are able to utilize them properly, so we should always strive to find ways in which we can make use of whatever is available around us instead of wasting it away.
