Seeing the Lord

SUMMARY: Aisha was asked if Muhammad had seen his Lord, to which she replied with shock and awe.

Masruq reported: I asked 'A'isha if Muhammad had seen his Lord. She replied: Hallowed be Allah, my hair stood on end when you said this, and he (Masruq) narrated the hadith as narrated above. The hadith reported by Diwud is more complete and longer.
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، قَالَ سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ هَلْ رَأَى مُحَمَّدٌ رَبَّهُ فَقَالَتْ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ لَقَدْ قَفَّ شَعْرِي لِمَا قُلْتَ ‏.‏ وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ بِقِصَّتِهِ ‏.‏ وَحَدِيثُ دَاوُدَ أَتَمُّ وَأَطْوَلُ

This hadith speaks of the power of belief in God. It is reported that when Masruq asked Aisha if Muhammad had seen his Lord, she was taken aback by the question. This shows how powerful it is to believe in something so deeply that even asking a question about it can be shocking. The fact that this hadith has been reported by two different narrators also shows its importance and significance. It teaches us to have faith in God and His power, as well as respect for Him and His teachings.
