Sahih al-Bukhari 7561 (Book 97, Hadith 186) #7263
Beware of Soothsayers

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ warned against believing in soothsayers, as their words are a mix of truth and lies.

Narrated 'Aisha: Some people asked the Prophet regarding the soothsayers. He said, "They are nothing". They said, "O Allah's Messenger ! Some of their talks come true". The Prophet said, "That word which happens to be true is what a Jinn snatches away by stealth (from the Heaven) and pours it in the ears of his friend (the foreteller) with a sound like the cackling of a hen. The soothsayers then mix with that word, one hundred lies".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be wary of those claiming to have supernatural knowledge or powers . Seek knowledge through legitimate sources such as scholars or books written by experts in the field . Rely on Allah for guidance .

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ warned against believing in soothsayers. He said that they are nothing and that any true words they say come from the jinn who steal them from the heavens and pour them into the ears of their friends with a sound like a cackling hen. However, these true words are mixed with one hundred lies. This hadith teaches us to be wary of those who claim to have supernatural knowledge or powers as it is likely that what they say is not entirely true. We should instead rely on Allah for guidance and seek knowledge through legitimate sources such as scholars or books written by experts in the field.
