The Secrets of Unseen Known Only by Allah

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that Allah is the only one who knows the secrets of the unseen, such as what is in a womb, what will happen tomorrow, when it will rain, where someone will die and when the Hour will be established.

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: The Prophet ﷺ said, "The keys of the unseen are five and none knows them but Allah: I None knows (the sex) what is in the womb, but Allah: II None knows what will happen tomorrow, but Allah; III None knows when it will rain, but Allah; IV None knows where he will die, but Allah (knows that); V and none knows when the Hour will be established, but Allah".

حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلاَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ دِينَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ـ رضى الله عنهما ـ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ ‏ "‏ مَفَاتِيحُ الْغَيْبِ خَمْسٌ لاَ يَعْلَمُهَا إِلاَّ اللَّهُ، لاَ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَغِيضُ الأَرْحَامُ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ، وَلاَ يَعْلَمُ مَا فِي غَدٍ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ، وَلاَ يَعْلَمُ مَتَى يَأْتِي الْمَطَرُ أَحَدٌ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ، وَلاَ تَدْرِي نَفْسٌ بِأَىِّ أَرْضٍ تَمُوتُ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ، وَلاَ يَعْلَمُ مَتَى تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ

This hadith explains that Allah is the only one who knows all of the secrets of the unseen. He alone knows what is in a womb before it is born, what will happen tomorrow or any other day in future, when it will rain and where someone will die. He also knows when exactly The Hour or Day of Judgement shall be established. This hadith teaches us to have faith and trust in Allah's knowledge and power over all things seen and unseen. We should not worry about things we cannot control but instead put our trust in Him for He alone has knowledge over all matters.
