Sahih al-Bukhari 7229 (Book 94, Hadith 4) #6943
Learning from Experience

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) wished he had known earlier what he had learned later, so that he would not have taken the Hadi with him and could have finished his Ihram with the people.

Narrated 'Aisha: Allah's Messenger said, "If I had formerly known what I came to know recently, I would not have driven the Hadi with me and would have finished the state of Ihram along with the people when they finished it".

QUICK LESSONS:
Learn from experiences and use them to make better decisions in life; Take time to reflect on past mistakes; Strive for self improvement.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about learning from experience. It was narrated by 'Aisha, who reported that Allah's Messenger said, "If I had formerly known what I came to know recently, I would not have driven the Hadi with me and would have finished the state of Ihram along with the people when they finished it". In this statement, Prophet Muhammad is expressing regret for something he did in hindsight. He wished that if only he knew then what he knows now, then his actions would be different. This teaches us an important lesson; we should always strive to learn from our experiences and use them to make better decisions in life. We should also take time to reflect on our past mistakes and try to improve ourselves so we can avoid making similar mistakes in future.
