Deceiving Muslim Subjects Forbidden by Allah

SUMMARY: Rulers should not deceive their Muslim subjects, or else they will be denied entry to Paradise.

Narrated Ma'qil: Allah's Messenger said, "If any ruler having the authority to rule Muslim subjects dies while he is deceiving them, Allah will forbid Paradise for him".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be honest and truthful with your people when you have authority over them.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of rulers being honest and truthful with their Muslim subjects. It is narrated by Ma'qil that Allah's Messenger said, "If any ruler having the authority to rule Muslim subjects dies while he is deceiving them, Allah will forbid Paradise for him". This means that if a ruler has been given authority over Muslims and they are deceived by him, then Allah will not allow them into paradise. The lesson here is that rulers should always be honest and truthful with their people in order to gain the favor of Allah. They should never use deception or dishonesty as a way to gain power or influence over others. This hadith also teaches us about accountability; even those in positions of power must answer for their actions before God on Judgment Day.
