Sahih al-Bukhari 6846 (Book 86, Hadith 68) #6581
Sense of Self-Respect

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ is teaching us that we should have a sense of self-respect and that Allah has more sense of self-respect than anyone else.

Narrated Al-Mughira: Sa'd bin Ubada said, "If I found a man with my wife, I would kill him with the sharp side of my sword". When the Prophet heard that he said, "Do you wonder at Sa'd's sense of ghira (self-respect)? Verily, I have more sense of ghira than Sa'd, and Allah has more sense of ghira than I".

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith narrated by Al Mughira, the Prophet (ﷺ) is teaching us about the importance of having a sense of self respect. He uses the example of Sa'd bin Ubada who said he would kill someone with the sharp side of his sword if he found him with his wife. The Prophet then says that he has more sense of ghira than Sa'd and Allah has even more ghira than him. This hadith teaches us to have a strong sense of self respect and to remember that Allah's love for us is greater than our own love for ourselves. We should strive to be humble in all aspects and remember that Allah knows best what is right for us.
