Sahih al-Bukhari 6781 (Book 86, Hadith 10) #6523
Speaking Ill of Fellow Muslims

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ warned against helping Satan by speaking ill of a fellow Muslim.

Narrated Abu Huraira: A drunk was brought to the Prophet and he ordered him to be beaten (lashed). Some of us beat him with our hands, and some with their shoes, and some with their garments (twisted in the form of a lash). When that drunk had left, a man said, "What is wrong with him? May Allah disgrace him!" Allah's Messenger said, "Do not help Satan against your (Muslim) brother".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of not speaking ill of fellow Muslims. It was narrated by Abu Huraira that a drunk man was brought to the Prophet and he ordered him to be beaten. Some people beat him with their hands, some with their shoes and some with their garments twisted in the form of a lash. After this incident, someone said something bad about the drunk man and Allah's Messenger warned them not to help Satan against their Muslim brother. This hadith teaches us that we should never speak ill or badmouth our fellow Muslims as it helps Satan in his mission against us. We should always remember that all Muslims are brothers and sisters in faith and we must treat each other with respect no matter what mistakes they make or how different they may be from us. We should also remember that Allah is watching over us at all times so we must strive to do good deeds even when it comes to our speech towards others.
