QUICK LESSONS:
Be generous and kind towards those in need; Value freedom above all else; Pay for someone's emancipation; Do favors for others.
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains that when a person pays a price for someone's emancipation and does them a favor by freeing them from slavery or servitude then they have the right to be called their wala. Wala is an Arabic term which means 'the one who has rights over another'. In this case it refers to the person who paid for their freedom and did them a favor. This hadith teaches us that we should always be generous and kind towards those in need as it can make a huge difference in their lives. It also teaches us that we should value freedom above all else as it is something that cannot be taken away from us once we have it.
