Sahih al-Bukhari 6694 (Book 83, Hadith 71) #6438
The Power of Vows

SUMMARY: Allah has predetermined what will happen to us, but our vows can coincide with that and cause us to spend money in charity.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, "Allah says, 'The vow, does not bring about for the son of Adam anything I have not decreed for him, but his vow may coincide with what has been decided for him, and by this way I cause a miser to spend of his wealth. So he gives Me (spends in charity) for the fulfillment of what has been decreed for him what he would not give Me before but for his vow".

This is an example of how Allah uses our own actions to bring about His will. It also teaches us the importance of spending money in charity as it is one way we can fulfill our vows and please Allah. Furthermore, this hadith reminds us that even though we may not be able to control everything that happens in life, we still have the power to make decisions and take action which can help bring about positive change.
