The Disadvantages of Vowing

SUMMARY: Vowing is discouraged as it does not prevent anything but makes a person spend their wealth unnecessarily.

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: The Prophet forbade vowing and said, "In fact, vowing does not prevent anything, but it makes a miser to spend his property".

It was narrated by Ibn 'Umar, who said that the Prophet forbade vowing and said that it does not prevent anything from happening, but instead makes a miserly person to spend their property unnecessarily. This hadith teaches us to be mindful of our spending and to avoid making vows unless absolutely necessary. We should also remember that Allah is the only one who can make things happen, so we should put our trust in Him rather than relying on vows or superstitions.
