Sahih al-Bukhari 6536 (Book 81, Hadith 125) #6285
Presentation of Accounts and Punishment

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ taught that anyone whose record of deeds is questioned will be punished, but Allah's promise of an easy reckoning only applies to the presentation of the account.

Narrated Ibn Abi Mulaika: 'Aisha said, "The Prophet said, 'Anybody whose account (record) is questioned will surely be punished'. I said, 'Doesn't Allah say: 'He surely will receive an easy reckoning?' (84:8) The Prophet replied'.This means only the presentation of the account"'. Narrated 'Aisha: The Prophet said (as above, 543).

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that we will be held accountable for our actions in this life. We must remember that Allah has promised us an easy reckoning when it comes to presenting our accounts, but if we are questioned about our deeds then we will be punished. This means that we should strive to do good deeds and avoid bad ones so as not to face punishment in the hereafter. We should also remember that Allah is merciful and forgiving, so if we repent for any wrongdoings then He may forgive us.
